Sorry about the delay in this post! That’s what happens when really work gets in the way!
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge hostessed a Gala Dinner for 120 guests in the Picture Room of St. James’s Palace on Friday November 11th. The Dinner was a fundraiser for the National Memorial Arboretum.
The Duke of Cambridge is a patron for the National Memorial Arboretum Appeal and this dinner was intended in raise money (they were hoping for £12 million) in order to convert the Arboretum into a world-renowned centre for Remembrance, explains The Daily Mail.
The National Memorial Arboretum Appeal “will fund the building of a Veterans Pavilion to provide a venue for functions, events and acts of Remembrance for the 200 military units, ex-Service groups and other interested parties to meet. It will also enable the Arboretum to expand its work with children from 5,000 a year to 10,000 a year, through the creation of a dedicated Education Centre”. Click here to donate.
Ok… back to fashion!
The Duchess of Cambridge choose a beautiful (though very different) custom made Jenny Peckham gown.
Anyone who knows me, knows I love a one-should dress – and this one is no exception!
The Grecian-inspired silver one-shoulder gown is not a style we normally see on the Duchess, but it was an excellent choice, she once again looked stunning. With a small tie around the waist the fabric fell perfectly – still giving a beautiful shape underneath all the that satin! And of course, she had a poppy pinned on her heart, as most of us did yesterday.
The Duchess broke out her trusty Jimmy Choo Vamp Sandals (which we are starting to see at most of The Duchess’ Gala and Dinner appearances). The sandals remain available online for $750.
She also wore a diamond bracelet we saw a few weeks ago when The Duchess stepped out solo for her father-in-law at the In-Kind Direct Dinner.
The Duchess also wore some gerogous candelier diamond earrings.
One last quick comment… I still think she is wearing a bit too much eye liner! With such a soft dress and healthy beautiful hair, I find the eyeliner just make her face a bit to harsh. The rest of her make-up is always beautiful – and I am still super jealous that she somehow manages to do it herself!
