The small dinner event was for an organization called In Kind Direct.  The Duchess of Cambridge attended on behalf of Prince Charles, who was overseas giving condolences to the Saudi Royal Family following the death of the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia reports Rebecca English from The Daily Mail.

In Kind Direct “redistributes surplus goods from manufacturers and retailers to UK charities working at home and abroad.  The organization was founded by HRH The Prince of Wales in 1996 and is one of The Prince’s Charities, which is the largest multi-cause enterprise in the United Kingdom.  Since foundation in 1996, they have redistributed £114 million in value of goods from over 850 companies. Over 9,000 charities have joined our network to benefit, helping millions of people in need”.

The Daily Mail reports that Kate was delighted to have been asked to attend.  “She was completely natural, professional and charmed everyone. She spoke to every single guest and was genuinely interested, and interested in continuing to help”.

The georgeous Greek Goddess style Amanda Wakeley dress looked stunning.  The dress is quiet a few years old, dating back to the designers 2006/07 collection.

She added some extra sparkle with her Jimmy Choo Ubai shoes (last seen in California for the BAFTA Gala), a beautiful diamond bracelet and those diamond earring we see so very often.

The feedback already from the dress has been mixed.  Many thing it was a bit too “daring” for this type of engagement.  I would respectfully disagree!  She looked classic and elegant and the dress is beautiful!  I loved the hair half up and half down.

On another note, this first solo apperance has lead to further discussion about Kate’s hair and uncovered a childhood secret!

The Daily Mail reported about the small scar on the left side of Kate’s head close to her temple saying “A spokesman for the Duchess at St James’s Palace confirmed last night that it was the result of surgery as a young child. The scar related to a childhood operation,’ they said. The palace declined to discuss what kind of operation because it was, they said, a private matter”.

And there you have it!
