The Queen has officially backed Prime Minister David Cameron’s push to change the ‘ancient’ laws that “puts male heirs ahead of their older sisters in the line of succession”

Under the new law succession to the thorn would be determined simply by birth. Therefore if Kate and Will had a daughter first, she would have the right to ascend the throne over her younger brothers.

It comes after David Cameron last week launched a bid to get the consent of 15 Commonwealth countries for reform of the law, calling the current system “an anomaly” that goes against “gender equality” according to The Telegraph

Raising this issue comes at a very convinient time, as The Queen and Prime Minister Cameron will be at CHOGM – Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (In Australia!!!) along with all other heads of Commonwealth countries.
