The Duke and Duchess have finally arrived in Calgary for the Stampede!

Kate arrived in a bright (possibly the brightess we have ever seen her in) yellow Primrose Dress by Jenny Packham.  The silk dress, as puffy short sleeves, buttons and a gathered waist.  I’m loving this dress…it’s fun and a bit flirty (maybe because of the wind!) but still very classy without looking boring and dated.  I’m also starting to realise that nude shoes will match every single possible ensemble!

It is while in Calgary that many people believe the first “faux pas” of The Royal Tour has occurred.

The White Hat ceremony is a Calgary tradition whereby White Cowboy hats are presented to dignitaries and special guests of the city.  Once the Duke and Duchess were presented with their white Stetsons they did not put them on their heads.

After reading numerous articles and blogs about this issue, I think it might be safe to think that because of the ridiculous amount of wind that was present in Calgary today, the hats would have never stayed on their heads!  And this is why they were not put on during the ceremony (again…not fact, just an overly stated observation)

However….later in the day the hats did make it on to the delight of everyone in Calgary!

Kate paired her new white Stetson with her Western styled Alice by Temperley shirt, some boot cut (not skinny!) jeans, a proper Western style belt and brown cowboy boots.

Her style and outfit could not be more perfectly match to The Stampede and Calgary.  Fabulous!
